What Is It?
Huntington's Disease, also known as HD, is a disease that causes breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It is inherited genetically through your parents. Symptoms of the disease usually do start to show up between the ages of 40-50. If symptoms show up before the age of 20, this is called juvenile Huntington's Disease. Patients living with Huntington's Disease usually live around 10 to 15 years after symptoms show up.
